The Akwa Ibom State Football Association (AKSFA) has expressed strong support for Nigeria U17 coach Manu Garba grassroots talent hunt, hailing his presence in Uyo as a major boost to football development in the state.
Garba, famed for guiding Nigeria to the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup title, is in Uyo for a two-day nationwide scouting mission powered by TP Sports.

The exercise, held at the Uyo Township Stadium, aims to identify young prospects for the Golden Eaglets ahead of future international campaigns.
AKSFA Chairman, Mr. Samuel Umoh, lauded the veteran coach’s unwavering passion for youth football, noting that his consistency in discovering raw talent has been instrumental in Nigeria’s past successes.
“Coach Manu Garba remains a pillar in our youth football structure. We’re excited to host him and confident that this scouting mission will unearth stars from Akwa Ibom,” said Umoh.
Coach Garba, who reflected on his fond memories of playing in Uyo during his active years, assured that the ongoing tour will help form a solid team capable of representing Nigeria at the highest level.
Also present at the event was German scout, Jacob, who expressed interest in partnering with the Akwa Ibom FA to give talented players international exposure, particularly in Europe.
With impressive turnout and skill display by local players, the Akwa Ibom FA reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots football and emphasized the state’s ambition to become a major contributor to Nigeria’s national teams.
