Akinwunmni Reflects On Bitter-sweet World Cup

First vice-president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has shot his mind back to the Super Eagles’ outing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and described it as bitter-sweet.

Akinwunmi said in a chat with sports247.ng that it was bitter in the sense of Nigeria failing to go beyond the group stage, but said the sweet part of its it that the Eagles and NFF learnt many lessons in Russia.
The NFF mogul, who is also chairman of Lagos State Football Association, noted that the last ten minutes of Russia 2018 were a blip for the Eagles, but stressed that 2019 will be a better year fopr the country.
Akinwuni added: “It would have been better had we been able to record things differently in 2018, but I am sure 2019 will be better for Nigeria.all is on the right path, especially with the achievements we made in this outgoing year.
“We have already returned to reckoning in Africa, and we hope to do better in 2019, at the end of which I believe Nigeria will take over the world as well. Mark my words.”
