Aiyenugba Urges Patience With Nwabali After Chippa United Exit

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba has appealed for patience and understanding for Nigeria’s number one shot-stopper Stanley Nwabali following his decision to part ways with South African club Chippa United.

Reacting to the development, Aiyenugba said only Nwabali truly understands the personal and professional circumstances surrounding his exit, urging fans and stakeholders not to rush to judgment.

“People need to be patient with Stanley,” Aiyenugba said. “Only him knows exactly what he’s going through. Footballers also go through personal and mental phases that outsiders may not fully understand.”

The former Enyimba goalkeeper noted that Nwabali has faced several challenges in his career, including doubts from people close to him, and may simply need time to reset and refocus.

However, Aiyenugba also warned that remaining without a club for an extended period could be risky, especially given Nwabali’s status as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.

“Staying without a club for too long is not ideal, particularly for a national team goalkeeper,” he added. “He needs to get back on his feet quickly and return to regular football to stay sharp.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his immediate future, Aiyenugba expressed confidence that Nwabali has the quality and mentality to bounce back strongly, calling on Nigerians to offer support rather than criticism during what he described as a delicate phase of the goalkeeper’s career.
