Age cheats peculiar to Africa football – Gianni Infantino

FIFA President Gianni Infantino made it known by stating that age cheating is one of the biggest challenges confronting football in Africa.

It is to the regard FIFA are prepared to further curb down on age cheats as they plan to introduce Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) age scan for the U20s after the successes recorded with the U17s.

Ever since 2009 at the FIFA U17 World Cup staged in Nigeria, MRI scans have been used to determine whether players for this level of the game are eligible age wise to feature in such a competition.

In simple explanation, a player is deemed to be within the age should his wrist bones not be completely fused.

And now the world football ruling body have commissioned several researches as to how to determine the true ages of players under 20.

These tests are not foolproof but they can gone a long way in minimizing age cheating in the sport.
