AFCON 2025: We’ve Created Brotherhood Through Family Environment In Super Eagles’ Camp – Iwobi

Fulham of England midfielder, Alex Iwobi has revealed that a major reason why he believes Nigeria will defeat hosts Morocco on Wednesday at the Africa Cup of Nations is because they have built a tight ‘brotherhood’ in their camp.

Sports247 reports that Iwobi, who was surprisingly chosen by Super Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle to join him at the pre-match media briefing, added that the Nigerian camp is like a family environment.

The former Arsenal of England under-21 team captain, who also played for Everton before moving to Fulham, further pointed out that many Eagles’ players are now mature and more experienced than they were in previous editions of the continental football showpiece.

Iwobi disclosed, “The difference for me in this camp is the brotherhood and the family environment we’ve created for one another. We have a strong sense of togetherness.

“It was also good at the previous AFCON, but that team was young and inexperienced. This time around, everybody is entering their prime, and we are all playing well for our clubs.”

The 29-year-old in-form playmaker, who will get his 76th Nigeria cap on Wednesday in Rabat, added that all players in the Eagles’ current squad have extra zeal and deep passion for wearing their country’s green-and-white jersey.

“We have the joy and fellowship of playing for our country. That has helped us not only on the pitch but also off the pitch.

“We share a lot of unity, and it’s a big family. It starts from the coach down to the players. We are one big family, and that’s why we fight for one another when we’re on the pitch.”

Iwobi ended by stating that their desire to be in the final on Sunday will spur the Eagles to defeat Morocco on Wednesday, and stressed: “That will bring out the best not just in me but from all the players.”
