AFCON 2025: My Players Want To Make Nigerians Proud – Chelle

Super Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle has declared that the most important factor spurring his squad towards victory against hosts Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final at the Africa Cup of Nations is that his players want to make Nigerians proud.

Sports247 gathered that the potentially explosive fixture in Rabat will begin at 9pm Nigeria time, with The Atlas Lions highly favoured to win, but Chelle disclosed further that all his players are determined to win the game.

The Franco-Malian gaffer added that the players all stepped up their efforts during their last training session on Tuesday night, as they want to play better than they did in their 2-0 quarter-finals victory over Algeria.

“We are ready for this game; just like every other game we have played in this tournament. We also try to play every game better than the last.

“So, we put in more effort for every game, and I’m happy that my players are ready to meet the expectations of Nigerians,” Chelle enthused.

He concluded by hailing the players for braving all odds so far at the tournament, where he admitted that the stress of playing several matches within a short space of time is quite demanding physically.

“I appreciate how my players are coping physically, because they have to play more matches, and they have only few days to rest.

“They are not complaining and keep on working hard, because they want to do everything to make their country happy,” Chelle eulogised.
