Nigerian dancehall and afro-pop singer, Patoranking has stuck out his neck with a declaration that the Super Eagles have what it takes to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Sports247 reports.
Patoranking’s declaration comes at a point in which many Nigerians are critical of their team’s chances of returning home from Morocco as African champions for the fourth time in history.
Despite the odds, the versatile singer, instrumentalist and producer, whose real name is Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, stressed that Nigeria can shock their critics at the showpiece competition, which he described as a unifying stage for Africa.
The football lover, who in July 2024 sponsored the upgrade of Ojo Niyun Field in Ebute Metta area of Lagos to an ultra-modern sports centre, expressed hope in seeing the Eagles win AFCON for the second time in his life.
He told One Football: “We can win it. I remember in 2013 it was a moment of joy, having witnessed my country lift the trophy for the first time since I was born.
“The closest to that for me was in 1994, when Nigeria lifted that year’s edition but I was just four years old at a time.
“Being an African musician who is a big Pan-Africanist that believes in a borderless Africa, this is the only event that brings us all together as Africans.
“To have fun and create good memories and it’s a thing of joy to see. I wish for this to grow bigger and bigger to project the beauty of African unity.”
