Speaking ahead of Monday’s knockout encounter, Simon said the Super Eagles are studying Mozambique’s tactical approach and style of play, with players and coaches reviewing video clips to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
The winger explained that knockout matches require a different level of focus, stressing that familiarity with opponents’ patterns can make a crucial difference. According to him, the technical crew has emphasized discipline and awareness as Nigeria prepares for the decisive stage of the tournament.
Simon admitted that the Super Eagles are aware of lapses in their performances so far, particularly in defensive concentration, but insisted the team is committed to improving with every game.
He noted that training sessions have been intense, with players fully focused on correcting mistakes identified from previous matches.
The Nantes attacker added that the mood in camp remains positive and determined, with players motivated by the challenge ahead rather than distracted by pressure. He stressed that every match at this stage must be approached with maximum seriousness.
Nigeria will face Mozambique on Monday, 5 January, in Fès, with Simon confident that proper preparation and execution will put the Super Eagles in a strong position to advance to the quarterfinals.
