AFCON 2025: Morocco’s Coach Declares – We Must Not Allow Super Eagles Breathe

Atlas Lions of Morocco coach, Walid Regragui has revealed his strategy for Wednesday’s semi-final versus Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, with a verdict that they must not allow the Super Eagles any breathing space during the game.

Sports247 reports that the highly respected 50-year-old Moroccan tactician, who was born in France and played for some years in Spain, also admitted that his wards will have to keep their feet on the pedal until the final whistle.

He noted furrher that knowing Nigeria will not have their captain, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi in the game is a big boost for his team, but acknowledged that Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi are all in top form at the ongoing competition.

“Ndidi’s absence will help us, but they will still have Osimhen, Lookman and Iwobi. When you see their bench, they might change their plan, although I consider that unlikely,” Regragui reasoned.

The Moroccan coach rounded off with a look at tactical aspects of the game, tops of which he admitted his team will have to dictate the tempo and get ready to step up their effort a lot more in the second half.

“We need to concentrate, win our duels and not retreat like we did against Cameroon. In the second half, we need to raise our level so as not to let Nigeria breathe.

“We have a tough match ahead of us. We will face a great opponent with outstanding players. We will try to give our best performance against them. We must win to be in the final,” Regragui submitted.
