Atletico Madrid of Spain winger, Ademola Lookman is relishing his side’s 2-0 win over Manchester United of England in the UEFA Champions League, but admitted that his side cannot afford to relax.
Sports247 reports that Lookman was also glad that he put an end to his recent blight for club and country with a goal in Tuesday’s game, then stressed that his team must be ready to do better in each subsequent fixture.
He further acknowledged how important the victory over United was, after Pablo Barrios opened scoring inside the first minute following Alex Baena’s assist, while Johnny Cardoso had a goal disallowed before half-time.
United’s challenge weakened when Leny Yoro was shown a red card in the 74th minute following which Lookman, who had gone in for Julian Alvarez three minutes earlier, struck Atletico’s second goal in the 79th minute.
The Super Eagles’ star told CBS Sports Golazo how he had been inspired by his teammates’ efforts before he got off the bench and described their victory as a confidence boost ahead of their next fixture.
Lookman reflected analytically, “We know how big of a win that was for us. The guys put on a big performance before I went on. So, it was easy to come into the team and play.
“I tried to help the team defensively and offensively when I had the energy. It’s a big win for us; it gives us confidence going into the next game. Game after game, we have to be ready.”
