Adegoke Rules Out Nigeria’s Chances At Lagos Tennis Open

Nigeria’s number one female tennis player, Sarah Adegoke has rule out any chance of a player from the country making high marks at the Lagos Tennis Open.

With many foreign-based again present at the competition that used to be known as Lagos Governor’s Tennis Cup, Adegoke told sports247.ng that Nigerian male and female players will not be able to pull through.

Speaking after her early elimination from the contest, Adegoke stated that Nigerian cannot perform any wonders at the ongoing International Tennis Federation (ITF) competition in Lagos.

After crashing out of the tournament in the first round at the feet of South Africa’s 16-year-old Kruger Zoe, Adegoke told sports247.ng that Nigerian players need exposure at more intternational competitions for them to be able to do well.

Adegoke stressed: “It is not until our players have as much competitions to feature in like those from abroad that we will be able to do better.

“In the event of playing just two national competitions before playing at the international level, we cannot perform wonders. Such status will not yield anything positive for us.”
