Adaobi Tabugbo Maintains Strong Form with 13.01s at East Coast Relays

Nigerian sprint hurdler Adaobi Tabugbo continued her impressive start to the season with another solid performance at the East Coast Relays, clocking 13.01 seconds (+1.4 m/s) in the women’s 100m hurdles.

The latest outing reinforces her growing consistency and upward trajectory, as she edges closer to breaking the sub-13-second barrier again this season. Tabugbo has shown steady progress in recent months, combining sharp technique with improved race execution.

She had earlier opened her outdoor campaign on a winning note at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge in Florida, where she ran 13.07 seconds (+1.8 m/s) to finish ahead of American athletes Camden Bailey (13.10s) and Antoinette Galloway (13.21s).

Her current form builds on a strong 2025 season, during which she consistently dipped below the 13-second mark. Notably, at the Ed Murphey Classic, Tabugbo recorded a season’s best of 12.93 seconds, extending an impressive streak of sub-13 performances that established her among the leading sprint hurdlers in her category.

With each race, the Nigerian athlete appears to be gaining momentum at the right time. Her performances highlight not only consistency but also a clear progression that could see her challenge for bigger results on the international stage.

As the season unfolds, attention will remain on Tabugbo’s quest to return to sub-13 territory and further cement her status as one of Nigeria’s rising stars in athletics.
