A former head coach at Heartland FC of Owerri and Abia Warriors of Umuahia, High Chief Chijioke Gabriel Osuagwu (aka Oburuonu) has joined in mourning the passing of Osahon Emokpae, with whom he worked in the technical crew of National Grassroots Dream Team.
Sports247 reports that Coach Chijioke, who also previously handled Flaming Flamingoes, Stationery Stores and AS Racines of Lagos, as well as Bussdor of Port Harcourt, Police Machine of Owerri and Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia, recalled the lofty character that made Osahon standout.
The boisterous Coach Chijioke, who started his career with Frankelson United of Lagos, which produced Ayo Makinwa and Ifeanyi Emeghara for the Super Eagles as well as many other talented players that featured for various clubs in the Nigerian national leagues, recalled how humble the late Osahon was.
He stressed that the gaffer from Edo State, who founded and coached Young Stars FC of Satellite Town, Lagos, was an intelligent technical buff and a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who also attended coaching courses at National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Lagos and Vejle BoldKlob in Denmark.
Osuagwu recalled how calm Osahon always was during their time together in the tecghnical crew of National Grassroots Dream Team, where they handled many future stars like Kazeem Atanda Yusuf (Ayila), Sunday Stephen (Onyah), Benjamin Chukwuka Onwuachi (Investment) and Nnamdi Vincent Oduamadi (Leg Over).
The exuberrant coach, who hails from Abia State, declared in a condolence message via WhatsAPP, “My heart is still bleeding over the death of a colleague who I worked with at my earliest days. A very humble coach, intelligent and peaceful. May Almighty God grant your soul rest in eternity.”
