Enyimba FC, Nigeria’s most decorated football club and a leading African football brand, has recently experienced a decline in performance, currently sitting 12th on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2025/26 table.
The state government described Eke’s appointment as part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening the club’s administrative and technical structures, ensuring professional management, and enhancing financial sustainability.
Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, approved the appointment following the resignation of former Sporting Director, Mr. Ifeanyi Ekwueme.
A product of Enyimba’s feeder team, Daniel Eke brings extensive experience in football management, scouting, and player development.
His resume includes roles as Scouting Director and Manager for Enyimba FC’s NPL team, Football Agent, Special Consultant to the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, and managerial positions at Rivers United and Abia Warriors, as well as scouting for Rangers International FC, Enugu.
Eke’s contributions to African football have earned him multiple accolades, including Most Successful Football Agent in Africa (2020), Most Successful Football Agent in Nigeria (2020), and Highest Goal Scorer Manager recognition for Chijioke Akenato (2020).
He is widely credited with guiding players from lower leagues to top-flight football, developing a strong pool of professional and international talents, and successfully transitioning academy prospects into professional contracts.
The Abia State Government expressed confidence that Eke’s technical expertise and extensive network will help reposition Enyimba FC as a dominant force in Nigerian and African football.
The government also clarified that Mr. Uche Okechukwu remains a duly appointed member of the Enyimba FC Board, while Eke assumes full responsibility as Sporting Director.
Stakeholders believe that with this development, Enyimba FC is poised to reclaim its status as a global football brand and a source of pride for Abia State.
