Umuahia-based Abia Comets Football Club have officially drawn the curtain on their 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign, finishing sixth in the Southern Conference Group A with 23 points.
Despite missing out on a playoff spot, the club’s leadership expressed appreciation to the players for their commitment and unity throughout the season.
Speaking on behalf of the Club Chairman, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, the Admin/Secretary, Mr. Haycith Ezindu, lauded the players for their dedication, noting that while the team fell short of last year’s fifth-place finish by just one spot, the club remains positive about its trajectory.
“Even though we didn’t make it into the NNL playoffs, there is still room for growth and improvement,” Ezindu said. “We are proud of the team spirit shown during the campaign and will return next season with renewed focus.”
Ezindu also conveyed the Chairman’s well wishes to the players as they head into the off-season, urging them to stay safe and maintain discipline while awaiting further announcements regarding the 2025/26 NNL season.
Abia Comets will now take a well-earned break with sights already set on building a more competitive side for the next campaign.
