An outstanding player and current champion at Lekki Scrabble Classics, Abdulmumeen Jimoh has been cited as a great example of the benefits that come from exposing children to competitions in the game at an early age.
Sports247 gathered that the commendation came from the president of Lekki Scrabble Classics, Samuel Anikoh, who revealed that the progress being made by Jimoh has inspired him and other officials to aim for greater impacts in youth development.

With Jimoh’s strides as a motivating factor, Anikoh disclosed that children below the age of 12 are set to receive greater attention in this year’s Lekki Scrabble Classics, with the introduction of a new category specially for the soon-to-be-teenagers.
Anikoh added that this is aimed at creating an early path for young players to emerge, develop, gain competitive experience and potentially grow into elite Scrabble players for Nigeria in the future.
Just as has been the case with Jimoh, Anikoh further acknowledged that early exposure to competitive Scrabble will help to uncover and nurture future champions for Nigeria.
He stressed that the strides of an early starter like Jimoh provides ample evidence of benefits to be gained from introducing children to Scrabble early.
“As an early starter himself, Jimoh is evidence that starting early does have its benefits, which is why the club is introducing a children’s section at the 2026 Lekki Classics event,” Anikoh stated.
