The match ended in a gripping penalty shootout, ultimately leading to Nakamura FC’s triumph.

Adesokan, who has contributed to Nakamura Strikers for four years, holds versatile positions as a right-back and central player. Describing the match’s intensity, he stated, “The encounter was nothing short of intense.

It almost resembled a derby, considering that both teams train at the same Bishop Aggrey grounds. It was a powerful, hard-fought battle.

Although conceding the first goal due to a lapse in concentration was painful, we managed to equalize. Despite pushing for a victory, the match culminated in a penalty shootout that favored us.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming match against the same opponent in another ongoing tournament on Friday, Adesokan conveyed his anticipation of a shift in dynamics, saying, “The energy in the next match won’t be the same. We’re preparing to display an entirely different level of energy.

This match serves as a lesson for them, and if they fail to learn, we’ll face them again in the semi-finals with the intention of emerging victorious.”

Sharing his perspective on grassroots football, Adesokan highlighted the need for enhanced funding and broader recognition.

He emphasized, “Grassroots football should transcend geographical boundaries, extending its influence globally from Mushin to the entire world.

Comprehensive coverage, including videos, cameras, and streaming, should be implemented. Although there’s progress with hosting competitions, there’s still room for improvement.

We commend those dedicated to enhancing grassroots football. Their efforts are commendable, and we hope to witness further enhancements in various competitions.”

When questioned about Nakamura FC’s prospects of winning the competition, Adesokan exuded confidence in their abilities.

He asserted, “The participating teams are formidable, but I’m optimistic about reaching the finals, not just the semi-finals.

If we execute our tactics effectively, we have the potential to secure a spot in the finals.

Our strength lies in playing the right way, and as long as we stay true to that, we have a shot at the final.

This tournament marks my debut, even though the team participated last year.”
