Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) Chairman, Victor Damilola Agbagu, has congratulated the Super Eagles coaching crew led by head coach Eric Sekhou Chelle following Nigeria’s 2–1 victory over Madagascar in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture.
Speaking with Sports247, Agbagu extended his congratulations to the entire technical crew and Super Eagles players, while singling out young LASK winger Moses Usor for special praise following his memorable international debut.
“Congratulations to Super Eagles and LASK winger Moses Usor for making his Super Eagles debut and capping it off with a goal off the bench,” Agbagu told Sports247.
The NFCA chairman was particularly impressed by the quality of Usor’s finish, describing it as a remarkable individual effort.
“What a marvelous goal it was. He scored a brilliant solo goal, dribbling his way into the Madagascar box before calmly picking his spot and finishing superbly to give Nigeria the lead,” he said.
Usor received a late invitation to the Super Eagles squad after Femi Azeez was left out following advice from Brighton & Hove Albion’s medical team, who recommended that the player use the international break to rest and fully recover his fitness.
Chelle subsequently drafted Usor into the squad, and the LASK winger made an immediate impression when given his opportunity.
Introduced in the second half, Usor brought energy, pace and direct attacking intent to Nigeria’s play. He then announced himself on the international stage with a superb solo goal that helped the Super Eagles secure a 2–1 victory over Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
For Agbagu, the occasion represents a significant milestone in the young winger’s career.
“It’s a debut to remember and a night he will never forget,” he said.
The NFCA chairman also highlighted the importance of seeing a player developed through Nigeria’s grassroots football structure reach the senior national team.
“It is good to see a player nurtured through Nigeria’s grassroots sports architecture living his dream. He knows what it is worth to wear the country’s colours,” Agbagu added.
Usor’s debut provides another example of the pathway from grassroots football to the international stage, with the winger now having an early opportunity to establish himself within the Super Eagles setup.
