Enugu Rangers striker, Kelvin Itoya is happy with the team’s victory over Akwa Uniuted of Uyo in the Federation Cup, as he sees it as another step closer to a continental ticket for the club.
Itoya admitted in an interview with sports247.ng that Wednesday’s victory did not come easy, as they had to rely on penalties’ shoot-out, after ending regulation time 1-1, but stressed that it is a major step forward for The Flying Antelopes.
Itoya stated further that he is already thinking of playing in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup, but admits he must stay focused for the semi-finals and then the final.
With that in mind, Itoya said he and his colleagues from The coal City side will not rest on their oars, as they seek to go all the way to the Federation Cup trophy.
Itoya enthused to sports247.ng: “Our hope of playing continental football is becoming brighter.
“We are much motivated and determined to win the cup and pick the other ticket left to play on the continental scene next season.
“I am happy with our performance in the Federation Cup and the league season. I am happy for hos everything has turned out for me and the club.”
