Super Eagles hopeful Alhassan Yusuf has won Royal Antwerp’s first Player of the Month award for the current season, the club announced via their social media handles.
Royal Antwerp missed out on a place in European football this season after losing their Europa Conference League playoff game to İstanbul Başakşehir in August.
Notwithstanding, The Reds sit comfortably at the top of the Belgian Pro League table with a perfect record after eight rounds of matches.
Antwerp has won all eight of their league games this season, with Yusuf playing a key role in each of those victories. The Nigerian midfielder has played every minute of those eight games, recording two assists.
Yusuf has received the club’s Player of the Month award for August as recognition for his outstanding performance. In all competitions, the 22-year-old has made 14 appearances. Antwerp will host RFC Seraing in their next league game on Friday, September 16 at the Bosuilstadion.
Yusuf was handed his first-ever call-up to the national team for friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador in May/June in Jose Peseiro’s first games in charge. However, the former IFK Goteborg prodigy did not honor the call-up due to club obligations.
Yusuf will be hoping that his recent displays will earn him a place in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming international friendly against Algeria on September 27th.
