President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel has advised the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) to keep the under 19 and 21 teams intact.
The Engineer Musa Nimrod led NVBF has been using the age grade to develop and grow Nigerian volleyball.
“When the grassroots is developed it gives opportunities to the youths to showcase their talents,” Habu Gumel in a chat with Sports 247.ng.
“I am very delighted and hopeful of a good future for Volleyball in Nigeria because it’s in the care of the right people.
“My advice to the Federation is to ensure that the core of the under 19 and 21 teams are kept together for a very long time. This will aid development and give the teams a sense of togetherness.”
“There is need for more trainings and competitions for the teams as they have the potential of making Nigeria proud in volleyball,” the IOC member added.
The under 19 won Gold in the Africa Youth Games in Algiers recently, while the under 21 were disappointing in the recent U21 Africa Volleyball Championship held in Abuja.
