Tottenham Hotspur’s Nigerian-born trio of Dominic Solanke. Tosin Adarabioyo and Destiny Udogie have their club’s coach, Roberto De Zerbi to thank for their team’s recent resurgence, after he banned the use of mobile phones by players during training camp.
Sports247 gathered that the gaffer’s decision to stop Solanke, Adarabioyo, Udogie and their teammates from using their phones when in camp ahead of matches came at a point when the squad was last placed in the English Premier League.

However, ahead of Saturday’s London derby versus Crystal Palace, Spurs enter the home encounter standing 14th on the log, while their visitors are 17th, which marks a huge transformation for Solanke, Adarabioyo, Udogie and their teammates.
While the Nigerian-born trio will take delight in seeing how all the players’ efforts on the pitch are eventually paying off, their gaffer will relish how his strict directive has famously turned the club’s form around.
As it were, recent EPL statistics confirm that things turned from nasty to promising for Solanke, Adarabioyo, Udogie and their pals after De Zerbi banned them all from using their mobile phones at breakfast, lunch and dinner in an effort to see the club bounce back from a major slump.
At that point, all the players were also forced to look up and speak to one another during meal times, an unusual directive that was taken in order to increase chemistry in the squad and create a boost for their resurgence at a trying moment.
De Zerbi explained that the decision was taken to ensure the players interact better among one another, rather than browse silently on their phones, ahead of each game, and the gaffer also disclosed that he used the same strategy during his days with Olympique Marseille of France.
“I already did this type of training camp with Marseille two times, and I think it was very important. It was a good solution. I spoke with the owner and together we took the decision, but it’s nothing special.
“It’s just to stay together and spend more time together, especially because in pre-season we couldn’t stay together. Many new players, many players came back from the World Cup.
“Three or four days together without family, putting the club at the top of their priorities, I think it’s normal and good,” the Sours’ tactician explained.
Sports247 gathered that Tottenham’s fans are again looking up to the continuum of recent improved form from the squad on Saturday evening, especially with Solanke once again firing on all cylinders in search of goals.
