Former FC Bethel Sporting captain Solomon Friday Nicholas has taken a significant step towards fulfilling his European football ambitions after completing a three-year move to Kosovo club FC Ferizaj, with an option to extend the agreement for another season.
The 20-year-old Nigerian defensive midfielder joins the Kosovo First League side following his development at Lagos-based FC Bethel Sporting, where he established himself as an influential player and team leader.
The transfer represents a major career breakthrough for Friday, who revealed his ambition to play professional football in Europe during an exclusive interview with Sports247 in March 2026.
Friday’s move comes months after he captained FC Bethel Sporting to a third-place finish at the 2026 Jagaban Cup. The Lagos-based academy secured the bronze medal following a dramatic 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Ikorodu City.
Speaking to Sports247 after the tournament, Friday described the competition as an important platform for emerging footballers seeking professional opportunities.
“It’s a great opportunity for young talents to be exposed to the real professional journey in the game,” he said.
During the interview, the midfielder expressed his desire to play in Europe, identifying Chelsea as one of his dream destinations while also revealing his ambition to represent Nigeria internationally.
His transfer to FC Ferizaj now marks an important step towards achieving those aspirations. Reacting to the transfer, FC Bethel Sporting expressed pride in Friday’s progression and wished him success in his new environment.
“Solomon has been an important part of our journey, and we are proud to see him take this next step in his football career. We wish him tremendous success as he begins this exciting new chapter,” the club stated.
Friday, who previously identified Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi as his football role model, is recognised for his defensive discipline, physical strength and ability to contribute across midfield.
FC Ferizaj confirmed the agreement with FC Bethel Sporting, describing their new signing as a defensive midfielder capable of contributing in both attacking and defensive phases.
The Kosovo club are competing in the country’s second tier as they pursue a return to the top division.
For Friday, the move presents an opportunity to gain European football experience and continue his development in a professional environment.
From captaining FC Bethel Sporting at the Jagaban Cup to securing his first European contract, Solomon Friday’s journey demonstrates how grassroots football competitions can provide a pathway towards international opportunities.
