Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa has returned to training with Swedish club BK Häcken following her involvement with Nigeria’s national team during the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers against Comoros, as she prepares for Sunday’s important encounter against Hammarby.
Sports247 reports that the Nigerian international was among the players invited for the Super Falcons’ two-legged qualifying fixtures, which ended in an emphatic 7-0 aggregate victory for Nigeria.
Although Omewa did not feature in either encounter, the forward has now shifted her attention back to club football, where she will be hoping to maintain her impressive start to life in Sweden.
Omewa’s invitation to the national team provided another opportunity for the forward to be part of Nigeria’s international setup.
However, she remained an unused squad member throughout both matches against Comoros. The Super Falcons recorded a 2-0 victory in the first leg before completing the job with a convincing 5-0 win in the return fixture.
Despite not getting playing time, Omewa returns to BK Häcken having been part of a successful international assignment. Her immediate focus will now be on regaining her competitive rhythm and preparing for the club’s upcoming league fixture.
Since joining BK Häcken, Omewa has made an encouraging start, scoring three goals for the Swedish side. Her early contributions have demonstrated her goalscoring potential and provided a promising foundation for further success.
The Nigerian forward will be eager to build on those performances as she continues adapting to her new environment. With three goals already to her name, Omewa has an opportunity to further establish herself as an important attacking option for Häcken.
Attention now turns to Sunday’s encounter against Hammarby, a fixture that presents Omewa with another chance to add to her goalscoring tally.
Having returned to training, the Nigerian international will be hoping to earn playing time and make a meaningful contribution.
For BK Häcken, having the forward available again following the international break provides another attacking option ahead of the contest.
Omewa’s ability to find the back of the net could prove valuable as the Swedish side seeks a positive result. While Omewa did not feature against Comoros, consistent performances at club level could help strengthen her case for more opportunities with the Super Falcons.
With Nigeria continuing their pursuit of qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, competition for attacking positions remains significant.
Regular playing time and goals for BK Häcken would provide the forward with a strong platform to demonstrate her readiness for future international assignments.
For now, Omewa’s attention is firmly on Sunday’s clash against Hammarby, where she will be hoping to continue her promising start in Sweden and increase her tally beyond three goals.
