Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has praised goalscorer Victor Samuel for his contribution to the comeback victory over Bendel Insurance, while expressing delight at the return of youngster Odinaka Okoro following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Sports247 reports that Buter described Samuel as a dynamic player whose determination and resilience have been encouraging, particularly considering the challenges he has faced.
“I’m really happy for Samuel after what he has gone through. He is a dynamic player,” the coach said.
The Sporting Lagos tactician was equally pleased to have Okoro back in contention, highlighting the importance of the youngster’s return as the team seeks greater consistency.
“Odinaka Okoro is back in the team after some time out. As a young lad, I am happy for him too,” he added.
With the Bendel Insurance victory secured, Buter has shifted his attention to Sporting Lagos’ Matchday 9 encounter against Plateau United, a fixture that will see him reunite with former coaching colleague Shola Adegun.
“We go back and prepare ahead of Plateau United on Matchday 9, with Shola Adegun, who is a friend and colleague. We shared the dugout, and he is now with Plateau United,” Buter explained.
The upcoming encounter presents another opportunity for Sporting Lagos to build momentum after recovering from an early setback to defeat Bendel Insurance 2-1.
With Samuel and Gafar Olaniyan providing the goals and Okoro returning to strengthen the squad, Buter will hope his players carry their renewed confidence into the next fixture.
For the Sporting Lagos coach, the victory was not only about securing three points but also about restoring belief among his players and supporters ahead of the challenges to come.
