The Lagos-based side recovered from a nightmare start after Kayode Oke handed Bendel Insurance the lead just 18 seconds into the encounter, scoring the fastest goal recorded in the league this season.
However, Sporting Lagos responded through Victor Samuel and Gafar Olaniyan to complete a remarkable turnaround and secure maximum points in front of their home supporters.
Speaking after the encounter, Buter expressed satisfaction with his team’s response, particularly their improvement after the interval, Sports247 gathered.
“Yeah, really happy with the victory and the performance from the boys, especially in the second half. I am happy we got the win,” Buter said.
Beyond securing three points, the Sporting Lagos tactician believes the victory will restore confidence among the club’s supporters, particularly after their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Rivers United in the previous round.
“It’s a big feeling, not for the players alone but for all the fans. They now have confidence in the team winning at home,” he added
With the Bendel Insurance victory secured, Buter has already shifted his attention towards Sporting Lagos’ Matchday 9 encounter against Plateau United.
The fixture carries an interesting personal dimension, with Buter set to reunite with Shola Adegun, a former coaching colleague now working with the Jos-based side.
“We go back and prepare ahead of Plateau United on Matchday 9, with Shola Adegun, who is a friend and colleague. We shared the dugout, and he is now with Plateau United,” Buter explained.
The victory represents an important response for Sporting Lagos after their previous setback, while the contributions of Samuel and the return of Okoro provide further encouragement ahead of their next assignment.
For Buter, the immediate priority will be building on the momentum, strengthening his team’s consistency and ensuring Sporting Lagos carry their renewed confidence into the clash against Plateau United.
