“We Have Done Our Appeal to CAF, and We Are Waiting for the Response” — Jarrett Tenebe

Edo Queens chairman Jarrett Tenebe has confirmed that the Nigerian club has formally appealed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision concerning their controversial encounter against Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

Tenebe made the disclosure while addressing the press on the ongoing matter, insisting that Edo Queens acted in accordance with the instructions given by the match officials during the encounter.

The CAF decision has generated significant attention, with the Nigerian club maintaining its position on the circumstances surrounding the match and its eventual outcome.

Speaking to journalists, Tenebe revealed that Edo Queens had already submitted an appeal to the continental football governing body and were now awaiting its response.

“We have done our appeal from CAF, and we are waiting for the response,” Tenebe said.

The Edo Queens chairman further stressed that the club remains committed to respecting the rules and decisions of football authorities, describing the Nigerian champions as a law-abiding team.

“We are a law-abiding team, and we opted for penalty as instructed by the match officials and we won via penalty,” he added.

His comments come amid the controversy surrounding Edo Queens’ triumph over Ampem Darkoa Ladies of Ghana, with the club seeking clarification and a favourable resolution through the appropriate channels.

Tenebe’s insistence that Edo Queens followed the instructions of the match officials underlines the club’s position as it awaits CAF’s response to the appeal.

The chairman also reiterated the importance of allowing the relevant football authorities to complete the appeal process before drawing conclusions on the matter.

For Edo Queens, the focus now shifts to CAF and the outcome of the appeal as the club seeks to resolve the controversy through the established football regulatory process.

The development will be closely monitored by supporters and stakeholders, particularly given the significance of the decision to Edo Queens and Nigerian women’s football.

Until CAF responds to the appeal, Tenebe and the Edo Queens leadership remain confident in their position that the club acted within the instructions provided during the match.

“We are a law-abiding team,” the chairman reiterated, as Edo Queens await the next step from CAF.
