Two budding attackers in Nigeria’s latest cadet national team, Azeez Faruq and John Abiodun have received a congratulatory message from their grassroots team, Super Accurate Football Academy of Ikotun, Lagos, following their inclusion in the Golden Eaglets’ final list.
Sports247 reports that the message came after both enterprising forwards were officially named in the Eaglets’ roster for this month’s West African Football Union (WAFU)-B U17 Championship, which starts on Friday in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Players, coaches and fans of Super Accurate FA had a mild celebration at their training base inside Community Primary School, off Abaronje Road, Ikotun after noting the confirmation of Azeez and Abiodun, two of their most promising products, in the Eaglets’ squad that travelled out of Nigeria on Tuesday.
Both youngsters will now aim to excel in the current Eaglets’ squad being handled by Eboboritse Uwejamomere, who has selected a team of 25 players to make Nigeria proud at the championship, during which they will play in Group B, with an aim of qualifying for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Eaglets will confront Niger Republic and Cote d’Ivoire in the group stage, while Burkina Faso battle Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic in Group A, ahead of which Eboboritse has listed three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards.
Heading into their first match next week Wednesday, Faruq and Abiodun will be further encouraged to seek starting shirts, then give their best when called to duty, as their well-wishers at Super Accurate sent a heartwarming message to them before Tuesday’s trip to Ouagadougou.
The message posted by Super Accurate FA’s coach, Idris Adewale Oseni and shared via the academy’s WhatsApp platform stated: “Congratulations to us, our boys, Azeez Faruq and John Abiodun (attackers) made the final list, start of greater things for us.”
