Showtime Flag Football: ‘The Fire Will Keep Burning’ — Salimon Muhammed Promises More After Ikan Sports’ 50-Point Win

Cross River Ikan Sports have made a strong statement in Week 3 of the Showtime Bowl Series, claiming a commanding 50-point victory over Delta Panthers and promising even more in their next game.

Sport247 reports that Cross River Ikan player Salimon Muhammed credited the team’s all-round performance for the convincing victory, with both the offence and defence playing key roles.

Asked what the turning point was in the game, Muhammed pointed to the moment the entire team stepped up and delivered on both sides of the ball.

“The turning point was when everybody turned up. We were on fire, both offence and defence,” Muhammed said.

He explained that Ikon’s defence disrupted Delta Panthers’ plays and stopped their attempts, while the offence kept the pressure on by scoring drive after drive.

Asked how important the victory was to the team and what it could give them going into their next game, Muhammed revealed that Ikan had set a clear target before the contest.

The team’s plan was for the offence to put pressure on Delta Panthers, while the defence aimed to prevent their opponents from scoring.

“We had an agreement that offence must mess with them, while defence, we are not letting them score any points on us. So I think that was our aim, and we achieved it,” Muhammed said.

Muhammed was also asked if the team could maintain its momentum in the next game and responded confidently, pointing to the meaning behind the team’s name.

“Obviously our name is Ikan, which means fire. So the fire will still keep on burning till the final,” he said.

Muhammed added that Ikon had wanted to make an impact from the first half and believes the team can achieve that objective in their next outing.

After putting together a 50-point victory over Delta Panthers, Cross River Ikan will now look to maintain the intensity as the Showtime Bowl Series continues.
