The Island AllStars Sports Club (IASC) has officially thrown open the PatrickLingo Intra Super Football League 2026, setting the stage for another competitive football spectacle built around rivalry, friendship and sportsmanship in Lagos.
The league begins under the leadership of club president Chief Kenneth Okeke Azubugwu (Orimili) and the Executive Council, with preparations already completed by the Sports Management Committee, including team seeding, appointment of coaches, fixture arrangements and the unveiling of sponsors.
“Let the games begin. Let the legacy grow,” IASC Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Emeka Agukwe declared in the official kick-off message.
Agukwe challenged players to embrace the competition with commitment while reminding supporters and sponsors that their involvement will be crucial to creating the atmosphere expected around the tournament.
“To players: lace up, train with purpose, and carry your team’s colours with pride. To fans: bring your chants, your slogans, your unmistakable energy,” he said.
The PatrickLingo league adds another chapter to a busy sporting year for Island AllStars. The club recently staged its 2026 Above-45 Tournament, one of its flagship competitions, with Dinice Royal eventually emerging champions.
IASC itself has grown considerably since beginning with just five men playing football in Abraham Adesanya Estate. The organisation says it now has more than 450 active members drawn from different professions and operates as a registered not-for-profit sports and social organisation based in Lagos.
Football remains central to the club, alongside basketball, athletics, tennis and several other sporting activities.
But as competition begins, Agukwe insists victory should not come at the expense of the values behind the league.
“Let sportsmanship reign. Let rivalry stay healthy, banter stay light, and every team lift the other in the true fraternity of IASC.”
And with the groundwork completed, the message to the Island AllStars family is simple: the talking can stop, it is time for football.
