Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has released details of the upcoming three-day World Assessors programme scheduled to commence this Thursday and end on Saturday in Abuja, Sports247 reports.
The venture, which has been described as ‘a major technical development programme,’ will involve capacity-building exercises to be handled by World Rugby Educators, who arrived in Nigeria during the past week.
NRFF’s media contact, Tolu Oguntimehin, added that the programme, which is also officially the final planned World Rugby visit under the federation’s current development programme, will involve coaches, referees and officials.
He further disclosed that the programme will provide coaches, match officials and other technical personnel with opportunities to undertake World Rugby courses, gsin assessments and undertake quality assurance exercises.
“The activities will include Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching, Level 1 and Level 2 Match Officiating, First Aid in Rugby, Intensive Care in Rugby (ICIR), Safeguarding Essentials, as well as assessments for Level 2 Match Officiating and World Rugby Educators.
“The World Rugby team will also conduct quality assurance assessments for Nigerian educators, including Wuraola Hussain and Olatubosun Johnson, while Mohammed Salisu will undergo assessment to complete his Match Officiating Educator course.
“Dr Fikunola Orafidiya, whose World Rugby Educator licence has been renewed after successfully completing his quality assurance assessment, will also be monitored during the Abuja programme, as he prepares to deliver another Level 2 ICIR course,” Oguntimehin stated.
Sports247 gathered further that the NRFF urged associations of rugby coaches, referees, offcials and other technical personnel to mobilise their members to take full advantage of the programme, towards boosting Nigeria’s officiating structures and develop a more qualified workforce
