After Fainting Twice, Bayern Munich’s Nigerian-born Midfielder Jamal Musiala Insists: There’s No Cause For Alarm

Bayern Munich of Germany’s Nigerian-born midfielder, Jamal Musiala has come out with a comforting verdict regarding his health, insisting there is no cause for alarm – despite fainting twice within four days.

Sports247 reports that, while football fans are still apprehensive, after seeing Musiala slump during two recent pre-season friendly matches, the Germany international played down the issue, stressing that there is nothing to be scared off, since he’s already receiving medical help.

Musiala took to social media to admit he is suffering from ‘absence seizures,’ which caused him to collapse in the games against Heidenheim and RB Leipzig, but stressed that it’s nothing to be scared about.

He reiterated that the condition is treatable and he has learnt how to manage it, which he has been doing with support from the staff and management of Bayern Munich as well as his teammates, hence his calm standpoint on the matter.
Musiala added, “I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary but treatable absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction. These can lead to the kind of incidents that occurred recently.

“I know they might look scary at first glance, but for me, they are currently just part of my everyday life. I am receiving excellent medical care for this and remain very optimistic. FC Bayern and my personal support network are right by my side, helping me through this.

“Importantly, there is no further health risk involved. In close consultation and regular contact with the experts, it was my personal wish to face this challenge; with the medical clearance from the neurologists.

“I want to continue doing what helps my recovery most: simply living my daily life and pursuing my passion for playing football. I have taken responsibility for this decision. Overall, I feel very positive and am on the right track.”

Sports247 also reports that, despite Musiala’s calm disposition regarding his health, the lad was left out of Bayern’s German Super Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, in which fellow-Nigerian-born dazzler, Michael Olise got one of their goals in a 2-1 victory.
