Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has reaffirmed her commitment to the team’s success, declaring that she is prepared to play in any position assigned by head coach Justin Madugu as Nigeria prepares for its crucial 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group C clash against Egypt.
Ajibade has been deployed in multiple roles during Nigeria’s opening two matches, showcasing her versatility as the Super Falcons recovered from an opening defeat to Malawi with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s decisive encounter, the skipper insisted personal preferences are secondary to the team’s objectives.
“I’m ready to play in any position the coach wants me to. The most important thing is for the team to keep winning and achieve our objectives,” Ajibade said.
The Atlético Madrid star explained that her versatility has always been one of her greatest strengths and is something she is happy to use for the benefit of the national team.
“I’ve always been comfortable playing in different positions. Wherever the coach believes I can help the team, I’ll give my best because representing Nigeria is the priority,” she added.
Ajibade also revealed that the Super Falcons have completed their preparations for the Egypt fixture and are fully focused on securing another positive result.
“We’re fully prepared for the game against Egypt. We know what’s at stake, and everyone is ready to give everything to ensure we qualify for the quarter-finals,” she said.
Nigeria heads into the match knowing that victory will guarantee a place in the knockout stage after bouncing back from the opening loss to Malawi with an impressive win over Zambia.
The Super Falcons are seeking a record-extending 11th WAFCON title, with the tournament’s semi-finalists earning automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
