New loan signing at Layton Orient of England, Somtochukwu Alan Udochukwu Boniface (aka Somto) has described his transfer from English Premier League side, Ipswich Town as the next natural move for his career, Sports247 reports.
Although the deal means he will now play in the third-tier of England’s football league, the 20-year-old defender, who was part of an impressive spell for Ipswich’s under-21 team last season in the PL2, said he already feels at home at his new base.
Boniface, an England youth international, who featured in The Tractor Boys’ first-team squads since joining them from Chelsea in February 2025, quickly linked up with the League One outfit for their friendly away to Swindon Town, as he commences a season-long loan spell.
The 20-year-old full-back, who is now Orient’s eighth summer addition, retorted: “I’m very excited to be joining the club for the season. I’m fully committed to giving this everything I have and I am looking forward to meeting all of our fans at our stadium.
“I feel like this is the next natural step in my career. I came to meet the gaffer and Scott Mitchell and they explained to me in real detail where they see me fitting in. I am focused on my defensive work but, most of all, I like to get forward and make things happen in attacking areas.”
