Organisers of the maiden Lagos State Mini Football League have disclosed that one of the competition’s major attractions is that all participating teams will have opportunities of seeing their players selected to represent Nigeria at a continental championship in Cameroon.

Sports247 reports that this was disclosed by the executive chairman of Agege Local Government and chairman of Lagos State Mini Football Association, Honourable Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, who also disclosed details of a huge prize package for the competition, which starts this Saturday.
While speaking ahead of Friday’s exhibition and celebrity novelty match to officially set the competition in motion at the newly constructed Mini Football Pitch in Keke Primary School, Agege, Obasa disclosed that a total prize fund of ₦4.5m is on offer for winners of the male and female categories.
“This league will promote football among young talents in the Agege community and serve as a scouting platform. We also plan to select a squad to represent Nigeria at the Mini Football AFCON women’s edition in Cameroon in September. Scouting for that squad has already started.
“We intend to promote the MiniFootball League among young talents in the Agege community. Interestingly, it’s a sport played almost daily by many within a small playing area. Agege Local Government is determined to extend the sport’s reach beyond the community,” Obasa expatiated.
Sports247 gathered further that the competition will be played across three venues in Agege and Orile-Agege for four weekends, with 10 male teams each in Groups A and B, from which the top two go into the semi-finals, while 10 female teams will compete at a single venue.
The male winner will go home with N3m, while N1.5m is up for grabs by the top female squad in the competition, which involves six players playing on each side of a small pitch with rules for the matches that are different from regulations of traditional football games.
