Anthony Joshua Parries Distraction From Tyson Fury, Insists He’s Fully Focused On Getting Victory This Saturday

Anthony Joshua Parries Distraction From Tyson Fury, Insists He’s Fully Focused On Getting Victory This Saturday has brushed aside speculation that he is thinking more of an epic bout witth Tysion Fury later this year, insitead of concentrating on how to defeat Kristian Prenga this weeknd.

Sports247 reports that, with the London 2012 Olympic Games gold medalist set for a comeback bout with the Albanian this Saturday in Saudi Arabia, many boxing buffs believe his mind if mostly on a November date versus Fury, who got a knockout victory in Thailand on Friday.

However, ‘AJ’ has come out to declare that he is not taking this weekend’s fight ligthly, neither is he thinking about the long-awaited bout with Fury, adding that he simply wants to take his comeback strides steadily and think only about each pressing battle before the next one.

The last time Joshua stepped foot in the ring against a high-profile contender was in 2024, when he was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois, but he insists he is not underrating Prenga in any way and stressed that his focus is fully on the Albanian, not Fury.

Joshua declared emphatically that, while his attention is fully on Prenga, he does not expect any of his opponents to remain on the same level they were when he first got to know about them or when they poreviously came up against him.

“I don’t expect Prenga or anyone to be at the level that I’ve seen them. I expect them to be 20-25 per cent better. But, so will I, because I know what’s at stake. It doesn’t matter about your record. It doesn’t matter about your history.

“It’s about on the night and that’s where, for me, I’ve got to be fully focussed. No matter how good they are, I’m fully locked in,” said Joshua, who lost out on a two-fight deal with Deontay Wilder in 2024 when the American was beaten by Joseph Parker.
