Nigeria’s Super Falcons produced a dramatic late finish to defeat Tanzania 2-1 in their final international friendly ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Despite Nigeria’s control, Tanzania fought back and restored parity in the 79th minute, setting up a tense finale. However, just when the match appeared destined for a draw, Esther Okoronkwo emerged as the hero, calmly restoring Nigeria’s lead in the 89th minute to seal a hard-earned 2-1 victory.
The late winner ensured the Super Falcons wrapped up their preparations for WAFCON 2026 on a winning note, providing a timely confidence boost ahead of the tournament.
The performance also gave the coaching crew another opportunity to assess player combinations, squad depth, and tactical flexibility, with several substitutes making valuable contributions during the contest.
