Ajayi’s winning time also matched his season’s best, further cementing his status as one of the fastest men in the world ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Speaking after the race, the Nigerian expressed delight with his execution.

“I just came out here and did what I had to do. I’m happy; I got the job done,” Ajayi said .

He credited his explosive start for making the difference.

“I got out of the blocks like ‘Boom!’ I knew that if I did my start well, then everything was over.”

Ajayi, who successfully defended his NCAA 100m title earlier this season, celebrated emphatically after crossing the finish line, turning towards Seville in a moment that reflected both confidence and the significance of the victory.

The win is another major milestone in what has been a breakthrough season for the Nigerian sprinter, who continues to establish himself among the world’s elite.

Ajayi also confirmed that he will represent Nigeria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which begin on July 23 in Glasgow, where he will be among the favourites for the men’s sprint title.

The London victory provides Nigeria with another major boost ahead of the Games, as Ajayi’s remarkable form continues to raise hopes of more international medals.
