The Houston Dash star has rejoined the Super Falcons camp ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco after spending several weeks on the sidelines with the injury that disrupted part of her club season.

Alozie’s return is a significant boost for head coach Justine Madugu, with the versatile defender expected to play a key role as Nigeria bids to successfully defend the WAFCON title it won in 2025.

“I’m really excited to be back with the team. I only just recovered from my hamstring injury, so it’s a great feeling to be here again representing Nigeria,” Alozie said.

The 28-year-old has become one of the Super Falcons’ most dependable defenders since making her international debut, featuring at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the 2024 Olympic Games, and helping Nigeria reclaim the African title at the last WAFCON.

The upcoming tournament will mark Alozie’s third Women’s Africa Cup of Nations appearance, and she says she is looking forward to contributing her experience as the Super Falcons chase another continental crown.

“Every time I wear the Nigerian jersey, it’s a privilege. I’m grateful to be back healthy, and I’m looking forward to helping the team achieve our objectives at the tournament,” she added.

Nigeria heads into the competition as Africa’s most successful women’s national team, having won a record 10 WAFCON titles, with the tournament also serving as a key step in the Super Falcons’ preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification campaign.

The Super Falcons are expected to continue their preparations in Morocco before opening their title defence, with Alozie now fully available for selection after her successful return from injury.
