The experienced striker, who was named in Justine Madugu’s final squad for the tournament, believes the Super Falcons are heading to Morocco with one objective—to retain the trophy they won at the last edition.

“We have everything it takes to retain our title. This team has the quality, the experience and the mentality to keep winning championships,” Kanu said.

The Racing Louisville FC forward stressed that the Super Falcons are motivated by the opportunity to continue Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football and are fully aware of the expectations that come with wearing the national colours.

Kanu also expressed her excitement at being selected for another major international tournament, describing it as a privilege to represent Nigeria on one of the biggest stages in African football.

“Representing Nigeria is always a special feeling. We’re looking forward to another successful tournament, and our focus is on making the country proud once again,” she added.

The 28-year-old has been a key member of the Super Falcons in recent years, representing Nigeria at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Olympic Games, and multiple WAFCON tournaments, where she has consistently contributed with important goals and experience.

The Super Falcons will continue their preparations ahead of the start of the tournament in Morocco, where they will begin the defence of their continental crown while also targeting qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
