NTTF President Adesoji Tayo Affirms: ‘Regular Camps Will Strengthen Nigeria’s Future In Table Tennis’

The president of Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Adesoji Tayo has assured that the nation’s emerging players will get regular camping schedules in order to boost their performances and strenghthen the country’s performances in major competitions.

Sports247 reports that Tayo stated this while commending the camping facilities that were recently enjoyed by some of the country’s male and female junior players at Babcock University, ahead of their participation in three major continental table tennis competitions.

Tayo disclosed that 35 players were camped at the university ahead of the competitions in Ghana and Guinea, where males and females will compete in under-19 and under-14 categories of Africa Hopes Week Challenge, West African Regional Championships and African Youth Championships.

As the training programme that involved 18 girls and 17 boys comes to a close this week, Tayo asserted that the camp helped too improve the players’ skills, experience and confidence ahead of the competitions, even as he expressed confidence that they will do well in Ghana and Guinea.

He also gave words of gratitude to the vice-chancellor of Babcock University, Professor Afolarin Ojewole, for hosting the camp, where he pointed out that the environment provided an ideal setting for the players, with quality accommodation, transport, health care and access to good training facilities.

Tayo emphasised, “Babcock provides good food, proper nutrition and excellent support. The university has taken outstanding care of the players. The equipment is of high quality and that is why we chose Babcock.

“This campus is beautiful and away from the hustle and bustle of cities, making it an ideal environment for these children. Regular camps and quality training programmes will strengthen Nigeria’s future in table tennis.”
