Daniel Daga Returns! Nigerian Midfielder Back In Molde Squad After Winning Appeal In High-Profile Court Case

Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has taken a major step in reviving his career after returning to Molde FK’s matchday squad for the first time since being acquitted by a Norwegian Court of Appeal in the legal case that kept him out of first-team football for several months.

The highly-rated 19-year-old was named among Molde’s substitutes as the Norwegian side battled to a 2-2 draw away to Aalesunds FK on Matchday 13 of the Eliteserien, marking an emotional return following one of the most challenging periods of his young career.

Daga had been suspended from first-team selection after he was convicted by a lower court in March over a sexual assault allegation dating back to April 2025. However, the Frostating Court of Appeal unanimously overturned the conviction earlier this month, clearing the former Flying Eagles midfielder and paving the way for his return to competitive football. Molde subsequently confirmed that he was once again available for selection.

Although he did not feature against Aalesunds, his inclusion in the matchday squad represents a significant milestone as he begins rebuilding his career and fighting for regular minutes under the Molde coaching staff.

Daga joined the Norwegian club from Enyimba in 2025 after attracting widespread interest with his outstanding performances for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Before his enforced absence, the defensive midfielder had established himself as one of the club’s brightest young prospects, making 15 appearances and scoring three goals.

The former Flying Eagles star will now be aiming to regain full match fitness and re-establish himself in Molde’s starting XI as the club continues its Eliteserien campaign, with Nigerian football fans hoping one of the country’s most promising midfield talents can now focus entirely on his development on the pitch.
