A Lagos-based fast-rising midfielder, Oluwatobi Abayomi has come out with a startling revelation that he admires Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen, but his dream club is Arsenal of England, Sports247 reports.
Rather than hope to follow Ronaldo’s footsteps at Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, Mancheter United of England, Real Madrid of Spain and Juventus of Italy, or trail after Osimhen’s line up of past clubs, Abayomi prefers starting his career at Emirates Stadium.
Before joining Galatasaray, Osimhen made waves at VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgoum, Lille Metropole of France and SSC Napoli of Italy, but Abayomi prefers Arsenal to all clubs that the 2023 African Footballer of The Year previously played for.
Incidentally, Osimhen shot to limelight when he emerged top scorer wirh nine goals at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, which he helped Nigeria win in Chile, and Abayomi admitted getting a similar impact would help him seal a deal with Arsenal.
The youngster, who is at present a student of United Universal Comprehensive College, Ikotun, Lagos, told Sports247 that he is already on his way toward living his dream, as he learns the ropes of youth football under the keen eyes of Coach Abbey Oseni at Rising Stars FC, which he joined in 2025.
“Although it was only last year that I joined Coach Abbey’s club at Community Primary School near Ikotun, I’ve already learnt a lot of football skills under him, and I’m still learning more. I believe that I will one day become good enough to play for Arsenal.
“I also learn a lot from watching Ronaldo and Osimhen play. Although I am an attacking midfielder, I combine what Ronaldo and Osimhen do as strikers to make my efforts better as a playmaker. Both of them can also play as wingers, and they can score great goals.
“Those are the assets that make me admire them more, and I believe that I will not only be like them when I get older, I will even surpass what they have achieved. I believe that I can become Africa’s best player like Osimhen and even win the Ballon d’Or, like Ronaldo has done five times,” Abayomi enthused.
Sports247 reports further that Abayomi is also thinking of becoming the next lad to celebrate from Ikotun, following the exploits of former home-based national team goalkeeper, Femi Thomas and former Almeria of Spain midfielder, Ramon Azeez, who played for the Super Eagles at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
