The World Boxing Council (WBC) has released its May 2026 women’s rankings, with four Nigerian female boxers earning places among the top contenders in their respective weight divisions.
The latest rankings highlight the growing influence of Nigerian women in global boxing, as the country continues to produce talented fighters capable of competing at the highest level on the international stage.
Leading the Nigerian contingent is Elizabeth Oshoba, who secured the No. 4 position in the women’s featherweight division. Oshoba boasts an impressive unbeaten record of 10 victories, including six knockouts.
The highly-rated featherweight contender continues to rise steadily in the global rankings and is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest boxing prospects.
Her aggressive fighting style and knockout power have made her a serious challenger in the division currently ruled by WBC world champion Tiara Brown.
Another Nigerian making the rankings is Toyin Adejumola, who was placed No. 10 in the women’s middleweight category. Adejumola remains unbeaten in her professional career with eight wins, six knockouts, and one draw.
Her inclusion in the WBC rankings further underlines her rapid development and growing reputation in women’s boxing.
The middleweight division is currently headlined by reigning champion Kaye Scott, but Adejumola’s rise suggests she could soon challenge higher-ranked opponents.
In the heavyweight division, Celina Agwu earned a notable No. 5 ranking. Agwu has compiled a strong professional record of eight wins, all coming by knockout, alongside one defeat.
Her knockout ratio has established her as one of the most dangerous heavyweights in African women’s boxing. Agwu’s presence among the WBC elite reflects her consistency and ability to dominate opponents with power and physicality.
Also ranked in the heavyweight class is Bolatito Oluwole, who occupies the No. 9 spot. Oluwole owns a record of 11 victories, seven knockouts, and two losses.
The rankings represent a significant achievement for Nigerian boxing, particularly for the women’s category, which has continued to gain recognition and support in recent years.
The emergence of multiple Nigerian fighters in the WBC top 10 rankings is expected to inspire a new generation of female athletes across the country while also increasing Nigeria’s visibility in international boxing competitions.
With the likes of Oshoba, Adejumola, Agwu, and Oluwole continuing to make progress on the world stage, the future of Nigerian women’s boxing appears increasingly promising.
The May 2026 WBC rankings further confirm that Nigerian female boxers are steadily becoming major contenders in global professional boxing.
