A total of eight home-based players are putting in determined efforts during training with the Super Eagles, as the team steps up preparations for Tuesday’s clash with Zimbabwe at the 2026 Unity Cup in London, Sports247 reports.
In contrast with apprehension in some quarters that the home-based lads might be sidelined and feel isolated in the midst of the foreign-based players, they all appeared to comport themselves pretty well as the number in camp expanded to 17 on Sunday.

The squad coached by Franco-Malian tactician, Éric Sekou Chelle opened camp on Saturday, with 14 players among the early arrivals, following which the trio of Chibuike Nwaiwu, Rafiu Durosinmi and Francis Uzoho joined them on Sunday.
Chelle expressed profound satisfaction with the spirit, dedication and chemistry among all players in their Cray Valley training camp, where he hopes to blend an array of rookie foreign-based players and stars of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The team’s training sessions take place at Artic Stadium, also known as Badgers Sports Ground, which hosts home ties for Isthmian League Premier Division side, Cray Valley Paper Mills and relegated Southern Counties East club, Stansfeld.
Team captain, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi from Besiktas of Turkey and Moses Simon, who plays for Paris FC of France, were among the nine remaining players expected to arrive 24 hours before the battle with Zimbabwe at The Valley.
Tuesday’s encounter at the home of Charlton Athletic FC in London is officially the first semi-final of this year’s Unity Cup, which will have India tango Jamaica on Wednesday in the second semi-final, while the final holds on Saturday.
