Zimbabwe’s national team, The Warriors, have commenced training in Birmingham City, England ahead of their clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles early next week at the 2026 Unity Cup in London, Sports247 reports.
The squad from Harare has four home-based players, who the head coach, Kaitano Tembo and his crew will count on to shock the Super Eagles on Tuesday at Charlton Athletic FC’s stadium, The Valley.

The Warriors’ advance delegation arrived in England on Thursday, thereby becoming the first squad to turn up for the four-nation invitational competition that Nigeria won last year with victory over Jamaica via penalties at Brentford’s BTech Stadium.
The Raggae Boyz of Jamaica are also in this year’s competition and they will clash with India in the second semi-final at the same venue on Wednesday, following which the two winners lock horns in the final on Saturday.
The 2026 Unity Cup is the fourth edition of the four-nation competition and this year’s event returns to The Valley in Charlton, south-east London, which hosted the maiden outing of the contest in 2004, with Nigeria and Jamaica also present.
Zimbabwe are set to make their debut this year with an ambitious squad that flaunts a blend of local talent alongside foreign-based stars, including Marvelous Nakamba, Tino Kadewere, Khama Billiat, Prince Dube and Marshall Munetsi.
The team’s South Africa-based contingent were the first to check into camp and were soon joined by a group of early birds that included goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze as well as Divine Lunga and Ovidy Karuru.
They will bank on heroics from their home and away draws with Nigeria during the Super Eagles’ ill-fated quest for a place at this year’s FIFA World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
With memory of those matches still fresh in mind, The Warriors will consider themselves capable of getting an upset win on Tuesday, especially as many Super Eagles’ regular players are not listed for this competition.
