Former FIFA and CAF executive committee member Amos Adamu has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the 10th Stephen Keshi Memorial Anniversary Lecture scheduled for June 7, 2026, in Lagos.

Chairman of SKFVTC, Dr. Louis Brown Ogbeifun, confirmed the participation of Dr. Adamu, describing the 10th anniversary edition as a significant gathering aimed at celebrating African football legends while inspiring the next generation of talents.
The event, themed “Heroes of the Game: Celebrating African Football Legends for Tomorrow’s Aspirants,” has also secured Federal Government backing through the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, who will chair the occasion.
A distinguished list of sports administrators and public figures has been confirmed for the memorial lecture, including CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu as Special Guest of Honour, Director General of the NSC Bukola Olopade, NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi.
The programme will also feature a high-level panel discussion involving Director General of the National Institute for Sports Philip Shaibu and Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Discussions will focus on sports administration, youth empowerment, grassroots football development, and national security collaboration.
Dr. Adamu is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most experienced sports administrators, having previously served as Director General of the National Sports Commission, sole administrator of the Nigeria Football Association, and chief organizer of the 2003 All-Africa Games.
The annual lecture honours the enduring legacy of late Nigerian football icon Stephen Keshi, fondly remembered as “The Big Boss.” Keshi, who passed away on June 7, 2016, remains one of Africa’s greatest football figures after making history as one of only two men to win the Africa Cup of Nations both as a player and coach.
Keshi also became the first African coach to qualify two different nations — Togo and Nigeria — for the FIFA World Cup, while leading the Super Eagles to the Round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The 10th Stephen Keshi Memorial Lecture is expected to attract leading personalities from sports, government, academia, and the corporate sector in a celebration of leadership, sportsmanship, and national unity through football.
