Falconets Star Precious Oscar Joins Flamingos Camp, Sends Strong Message Ahead of Guinea Clash

Nigeria youth international Precious Oscar has expressed strong confidence in the Flamingos’ preparedness ahead of their crucial FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Guinea.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Oscar stated that the team has intensified preparations and is fully focused on getting a positive result in the first leg away from home.

“Yes, sure. We have done a lot of trainings and we are well prepared to face our opponents in the away game,” she said.

The youngster stressed the importance of winning the first leg, noting that a strong result in Côte d’Ivoire would boost the team’s confidence heading into the return fixture in Nigeria.

“It’s very important that we win over there because that gives us the confidence to come back home and play even better. It’s our first game, so we need to take the game to them.”

Oscar also reflected on her recent success with the Falconets, where she played a key role in Nigeria’s qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with her crucial strike against Malawi.

The versatile attacker thanked God for the opportunity to represent both the Falconets and Flamingos, while pledging to make a positive impact in the U-17 national team setup.

“First of all, it’s God, and I give Him all the glory for the opportunity to play for the U-20 team. Now I’m here with the U-17s, and I want to give my best and make my own impact in the team.”

She further explained that the presence of players with experience from higher age-grade national teams would inspire and motivate others within the squad.

“A lot of players will be motivated playing alongside those from the U-20 team because it shows the pathway and serves as a stepping stone to the next level.”

Nigeria’s Flamingos will face Guinea in the second round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled to take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, before the return leg in Nigeria.

The Flamingos, coached by Akeem Busari, will be aiming to continue Nigeria’s proud tradition in women’s youth football by securing another appearance on the global stage.
