The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially announced the commencement of registration for the 2026 Nationwide season, inviting clubs across the country to participate in its third-tier competition.
In a statement released on April 11, 2026, and signed by the league’s spokesman, Samuel Ahmadu, the body confirmed that payment for registration will open on Monday, April 13, and close on June 30, 2026.
The registration fee has been fixed at ₦550,000, while clubs that featured in the 2025 edition may also be required to settle additional caution or expulsion fees where applicable.
The NWFL Nationwide division continues to serve as a vital entry point for emerging clubs, offering a structured platform to compete at the national level and develop grassroots women’s football across Nigeria.
Also speaking on the process, the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, emphasized that the competition remains open to all interested teams nationwide.
She noted that the registration exercise will be conducted in phases to ensure a smooth and organized process.
According to Shabi, while payment will run between April 13 and June 30, the official registration portal will open on May 30 and close on July 10, 2026.
This timeline is designed to allow adequate preparation ahead of the new season, which is scheduled to kick off in August.
She further stressed that the entire registration process will be conducted strictly online, reflecting the league’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for participating clubs.
Clubs have also been provided with relevant documentation, including licensing requirements and player registration guidelines, to ensure compliance and a seamless onboarding process.
Details regarding venues, fixtures, and the full schedule for the 2026 NWFL Nationwide season are expected to be announced in due course, as anticipation builds for another competitive campaign in Nigeria’s women’s football pyramid.
