Rangers International have been officially charged for breaching Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Framework Rules following incidents during their home fixture against Barau FC on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
The NPFL cited the Enugu-based club for failing to provide adequate and effective security, a lapse that allowed unauthorized individuals access to restricted areas within the stadium.
In addition, Rangers officials were found guilty of actions capable of bringing the game into disrepute, while the club also failed to control the conduct of their supporters, which led to the harassment of match officials.
Supporters of the club were further reported to have engaged in acts of gross misconduct toward match officials behavior considered damaging to the integrity of the league.
As a result of these breaches, Rangers have been handed multiple fines totaling ₦4 million.
The breakdown includes:
₦1m for failure to provide adequate security
₦1m for encroachment onto the field of play
₦1m for unsporting conduct by club officials
₦1m for failure to control supporters leading to harassment of match officials
Beyond the financial penalties, Rangers will also play their remaining two home matches of the season behind closed doors.
The club has been given a 48-hour window from the date of the notice to file an appeal against the sanctions.
